The Destination Thailand Visa, commonly known as the DTV Visa, is designed for digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, participants in approved Thai activities, and eligible family members.

The visa is valid for five years with multiple entries and allows a stay of up to 180 days per entry. An additional extension of up to 180 days may be requested through Thai Immigration, but approval is always at the discretion of the immigration authorities.

DTV Visa Information

Visa Validity

The DTV Visa is valid for five years and permits multiple entries into Thailand.

Length of Stay

You may be granted up to 180 days per entry.

Extension in Thailand

A further extension of up to 180 days may be requested through Thai Immigration. Extensions are not automatic and remain subject to the immigration officer’s decision. After the maximum permitted stay, the holder must leave Thailand and may re-enter while the visa remains valid.

Working in Thailand

The Workcation category is intended for people working remotely for foreign employers or international clients.

The DTV does not provide permission to work for a Thai company, perform work for Thai clients or obtain a Thai work permit.

Financial Evidence

Applicants are generally required to demonstrate financial evidence equivalent to at least 500,000 THB.

Visa Application Fee

The official embassy application fee is separate from our professional service fee.

Embassy fees vary depending on the country and consulate where the application is submitted. Official visa fees are generally non-refundable, including when an application is refused.

Applying from Outside Thailand

The application must normally be completed while the applicant is physically outside Thailand and through the embassy or consulate responsible for the applicant’s current location.

Applicants may be asked to provide evidence showing where they are physically located when applying.

Processing Time

Processing times vary by embassy, nationality, application volume and the complexity of the case.

Applications requiring additional documents or clarification may take longer. We recommend starting the process well before the intended travel date.

Family Applications

A legal spouse and dependent children under 20 may apply as dependants of a DTV holder.

Each family member must submit an individual application and provide documents confirming the family relationship.

90-Day Reporting

Foreign nationals who remain in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days may be required to complete 90-day reporting with Thai Immigration.

This reporting requirement is separate from the visa’s permitted length of stay.
